Last Saturday was the second instalment of a series of Fashion related talks I have been doing at Central Square Ballarat. The topic was ‘How to make the most of your Wardrobe all year round’! I thought I’d re-cap some of the main points here on the blog for those of you who couldn’t make it along!
Being able to wear your garments all year round doesn’t just save you money, it also gives you permission to get creative and form many looks using just one garment! The main things to keep in mind is to ensure you have a good supply of wardrobe staples to help you achieve the goal of wearing a particular piece in either rain, hail or shine! Let’s make a list:
TOPS: a variety of long sleeve tops … these need to be tight fitting with some elastane in the fabric, so that they sit well under other garments. I would recommend having one in black, grey and white, so that you have all bases covered!
BOTTOMS: a good quality opaque tight in black is a must have! (in addition you could also have navy and brown).
ACCESSORIES: Winter neck scarves, Summer neck scarves, Winter Hats, Summer Hats and some fabulous accessories in a variety of colours and shades!
FOOTWEAR: Boots (ankle, mid or full … one of each ideally!), closed toe flats, open toe flats, neutral shade wedge heels and strappy sandals.
By making sure you have a good basic wardrobe to lean on … you can then easily take any dress or top and dress it up or down, depending on the occasion … or layer up or down, depending on the weather! Don’t hide those favourite summer frocks away in the colder months … just get creative!
For instance, take one of your fave sleeveless summer dresses … pop a long sleeve top underneath, add a warm neck scarf, a jacket or vest, some tights and boots! Now, you’re ready to wear it in the middle of Winter! Dresses are really versatile – so make the most of them! Have fun with your fashion, there are no rules!
