Hello Ladies, Happy Monday!
As promised; this week I'm going to talk to you about my Sustainable Shopping Tours! I am so thrilled to have finally launched them and I can't wait for the first Tour - which is on Saturday August 19th. As I mentioned in last weeks Blog Post, the Tours have been something I have been wanting to do for some time.
My motivation for the Tours comes from the good old saying 'Give a man a fish and you feed him for a day, teach a man to fish and you feed him for a lifetime'.
Sourcing and Selling Preloved Clothing is obviously a huge component of my business, not only does it help fund my desire to promote sustainability (and allow me to stay at home with my girls), it also helps those Ladies who want to shop Preloved, but may not have the time or ability to source items themselves. But ultimately selling Preloved Clothing is part of a bigger picture for The Wardrobe Green.
Raising awareness on the negative impacts of FAST FASHION and those on the environment, is at the core of what I do. I read an article yesterday published by the ABC NEWS and it outlined the impact that Australia's FAST FASHION ADDICTION has on factory workers in Myanmar. The pressure that workers face to meet demand is agonizing, so much so that one woman admitted she limits her water intake so that she doesn't have to take toilet brakes during the day. And when I say 'day' I don't mean the working day that most of us would be familiar with, ... the article explained that most garment workers are working up to 11 hours a day, 6 days a week.
So my point is - Buying and Selling Preloved Garments is not enough ... I want to inspire and encourage change, by showing women how to Shop Preloved, Wear Preloved and Love Preloved. The Tours will do just that ... not only will I be taking the group to a few of my favorite Op Shops in Ballarat, I will be there to guide and share my tips and tricks ... as well as assist with the overwhelm that is sometimes felt when entering an op shop! But that's not all ... each Tour Guest will receive a special Sustainability Gift Bag ... as well as starting the day with a Tea Tasting presented by the lovely Sarah from One Little Leaf. I could go on ... but I don't want to spoil all of the surprises!! Let's just say, it's going to be fabulous!
Tickets are $30.00 per person and can be purchased via my website: www.thewardrobegreen.com.au ... alternatively, feel free to contact me via email if you have any further questions or queries. Private Tours are also available (via consultation) and are a great unique celebration idea. Birthdays, Hens Party, School Groups, Mothers Groups ... or just for fun, get in touch and I can customize something to meet your needs.
See you on the Tour!
